Gonzalo Rodríguez Borobio appointed Chief Commercial Officer of Boost Air

Madrid, 25 May 2026. Boost Air, the aviation company created through the integration of Gestair, Brok-air and ATS Aviation, has appointed Gonzalo Rodríguez Borobio as the group’s Chief Commercial Officer.

Bringing together strategic vision, multicultural leadership and extensive experience in the commercialisation and delivery of highly complex technological, industrial and large-scale programmes, Rodríguez Borobio will lead Boost Air’s commercial strategy, supporting the group’s consolidation and continued growth across both domestic and international markets.

With more than 25 years of experience, Rodríguez Borobio has spent much of his professional career at Airbus, where he held senior leadership positions across the Programmes, Procurement and Commercial functions, specialising in the defence sector.

Most recently, based in Munich, he served as Vice President at Airbus GmbH, leading some of the most significant commercial campaigns in the European defence industry, particularly in the fields of unmanned aerial systems and next-generation defence programmes.

Among his most notable achievements was his key role in aligning strategic interests and securing cooperation agreements between governments, armed forces, industrial partners and international financial stakeholders involved in the Eurodrone programme, the multinational initiative jointly developed by Spain, Germany, France and Italy. The programme represents one of Europe’s most significant collaborative defence projects, aimed at strengthening both strategic autonomy and technological sovereignty.

He also played a prominent role in the commercial development of the Future Combat Air System (FCAS), the next-generation European air combat programme led by Spain, France and Germany, as well as the SIRTAP programme, the tactical unmanned aerial system developed in Spain and recognised as a flagship programme for the country’s defence industry.

Earlier in his career, Rodríguez Borobio served as Airbus Regional Sales Director for Spain and Southern Europe. He was also responsible for managing relationships with international organisations including NATO, the United Nations and the World Food Programme, while leading complex commercial negotiations across a range of international markets.

Gonzalo Rodríguez Borobio is married with three children and holds a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Technical University of Madrid.
